Chicago, IL (PRWEB) March 18, 2014

The Chicago School of Professional Psychologys Dr. Erika L. Liljedahl, Program Director and Department Chair of the schools online Forensic Psychology, Non-Licensure Track program, will speak at the 19th International Conference of the Association of Psychology and Psychiatry for Adults & Children (A.P.P.A.C.), which will be held in Athens, Greece May 13-16. Coupled with this, Dr. Liljedahl was recently awarded a grant from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology to work with the METAction Organization in Greece.

During the four-day conference, Dr. Liljedahl will speak toward the notion of integrating Greek history into the teaching of ethics at the graduate level. Participants will have the chance to trace the footsteps of Socrates, Aristotle, and Plato throughout the oral presentation and learn how history and experience impact the development of culture, along with furthering their own ethical and moral thinking and decision making.

With the METAction Organization, Dr. Liljedahl stated, My visit to METAction in Athens will enable me to better understand the challenges that this organization has in meeting their statutory purposes/goals. I will meet with the team of doctors, lawyers and volunteers to better understand how my specialty in forensic psychology and research can be put into practice and to assist them in meeting their organization goals. I anticipate my community service will not only help METAction assist current refugees, but also future refugees in integrating and adapting to another culture, while coping with discrimination and xenophobia, or in the reintegration back to their own country.

The Chicago School of Professional Psychologys online Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology: Non-Licensure Track prepares students with the necessary skills to effectively apply psychological theories to justice system, child protection services, juvenile justice, civil matters, and many other niches. Students can choose to explore a Special Area of Interest (Guided Electives,) which helps them choose electives that are more central to their learning and about a specific area in forensic psychology. The Special Areas of Interest include Corrections, Law Enforcement, and Sex Offender. The online masters degree can be obtained in as little as 20 months and provides students with education and training in forensic psychology principles.
